Ukrainian banks are considering the possibility of introducing a limit on the transfer of funds up to UAH 100,000 per month, and such a limit may apply not only to card-to-card transfers, but also to IBAN transfers.

Several participants of the banking market informed the agency "Interfax-Ukraine" that as early as next week they may sign a joint memorandum on the introduction of unified approaches to due diligence of clients and monitoring of financial transactions on their accounts.

The document plans to provide for a gradual reduction of the monthly transaction limit, after exceeding which, in the absence of confirmed income, increased financial monitoring will be carried out.

According to one of the interlocutors of the agency, initially a limit of 150,000 UAH per month may be introduced from January 1, 2025 (including IBAN), and from July 1 it will be reduced to 100,000. UAH per month.

The interlocutors noted that both banking associations — NABU and AUB — participate in this initiative, and about half of the banks have already pre-approved it.

As we reported, the NBU has set a limit of 150,000 from October 1, 2024. UAH per month for card-to-card (P2P, person-to-person) transfers of individuals. However, transactions using IBAN details are not yet limited.

At the same time, according to the NBU, 98% of bank clients make monthly transfers that do not exceed the specified amount.

In addition, since September 10, the NBU introduced limits on the use of currency cards abroad: which goods are subject to a limit of UAH 100,000.
