«A candidate wrote to me on LinkedIn: ‘Can I do it without an interview, just an offer?’ At first I thought it was trolling. But I decided to respond,» says the specialist.
She wrote back to the candidate: «You can, if you have a strong portfolio. Please send it.»
To which the candidate admitted that she had no experience, but was a quick learner.
When asked by the recruiter why the candidate didn’t want to go through the interview, she replied: «Because it’s stressful. And I’m an introvert.»
Just as the recruiter was about to end the conversation, the candidate wrote something else. «I was about to end the conversation, but she wrote one more sentence — and I was stuck,» the hiring specialist admits.
She quoted what the female candidate wrote: «Well, I just saw TikTok where the recruiter himself made an offer for nothing. So why can’t I?»
«We’ve reached an era where TikTok has become a career consultant. I have nothing against confidence. But there’s a huge difference between ‘selling yourself’ and ‘turning on magical thinking,’» the recruiter concluded.
