The company’s engineers take terminals into service with various types of faults. In particular, we are talking about a decrease in connection speed, communication drops, power system failures, damage to connectors and housing, as well as the effects of water ingress, overheating, and vibrations during transportation.
"There is no official Starlink service center in Ukraine where users could contact for equipment repair. We understand how important stable communication is on the battlefield, so we decided to develop the direction of Starlink terminal repair. Our goal is to quickly help restore faulty equipment so that military and other users can return it to work and not spend money on a new terminal where repair is possible," the BlueBird Tech R&D team noted.
The restoration process involves mandatory initial diagnostics to determine the cause of the malfunction and assess the economic feasibility of the repair. The cost of the work and the timing of its completion are determined individually based on the results of the inspection.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Starlink and Starshield services were operating with failures at high speeds, which significantly complicated the work of the Ukrainian military. According to The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk personally gave the order to reduce the communication speed for the military version of Starlink in Ukraine. The situation was discussed with US Secretary of State Mark Rubio, and on October 22, the WSJ reported that US President Donald Trump called the head of SpaceX and asked to lift the restrictions.
Already on October 24, Zelensky confirmed the resumption of Starlink and Starshield operations "at speeds that were before all limitations."
