About 20 Ukrainian manufacturers have their own solutions in the segment of cheap reconnaissance drones.
This was stated by the head of Brave1 UAV division, Denis Logvinenko, during the Brave1 Advantage event in a dialogue with TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovsky.
TAF Industries positions its «Babka» reconnaissance drone as the cheapest on the market, priced at around $3,000.
Zinovsky said that the decision to develop the «Babka» emerged as a response to the need for «something in between» Mavics and expensive reconnaissance drones that cost tens of thousands of dollars.
«There was nothing in between. So we decided that let’s try to make a real reconnaissance aircraft that would be close in price to the Mavic, and in the end it ended up being at the price of the Mavic,» Zinovsky noted.
The CEO of TAF Industries added that the reason for making the «Babka» so cheap was the camera «based on certain ready-made solutions.» Currently, the drone only has a daytime camera, but the company is also developing a version that can operate at night.
In turn, the head of the Brave1 UAV division, Denys Logvinenko, noted that about 20 Ukrainian manufacturers are now ready to present cheap reconnaissance solutions.
«They are already coming after you hard. In reality, about 20 companies already have experience with cheap reconnaissance aircraft. The price is just in this range,» he noted.
However, during the dialogue, the participants in the discussion emphasized that not all of these developments of cheap reconnaissance drones can go into mass production.
Previously, dev.ua attended the presentation of the cheapest reconnaissance drone, which is «not a pity», and a drone-waiter from TAF Industries, which can spend up to three days in an ambush.
