The designer talked about his project on LinkedIn.
"In short, yesterday before going to bed I really wanted to make some delicious borscht. There was also a discussion about borscht in one chat. Then I remembered that at one time there was a game called Fruit Ninja, which broke all the charts and ratings (hello to everyone whose year of birth starts with the number 1). I thought, why not make a version of the game about BORSCH?" - says Govorukhin.
There are six regions in the game, and for each, the author has chosen his own version of borscht:
Poltava region - borscht with plums;
Chernihiv region - with apples, beans and zucchini;
Polesie - lean borscht with honey;
Podillia - with cherries;
Galicia - with mushroom ears;
Odessa region - borscht with fish from Vylkovo.
Before the game, you can see the composition of each borscht and briefly read how it differs from the others. The “recipe book” also contains references to sources. For example, for Poltava borscht with plums, they used Yevhen Klopotenko’s recipe, and for borscht with mushroom ears, they used Slow Food materials.
The game itself is built around the familiar mechanics of Fruit Ninja. Ingredients need to be cut, and for several simultaneous hits the game counts combos. You also need to avoid bombs. There is also a separate training mode and several difficulty levels. As you progress, the player collects stars - a total of 54 can be obtained in six regions. They open up new visual effects for the "blade". The game also has a rating, so you can compete with other players.
