The developers noted that STALKER 2 will be released on PS5 and PS5 Pro in late 2025. The GSC announcement trailer doesn’t just show another cut of footage from the game, but also shows a little story. In the video, one of the characters from STALKER 2 plays the same game on a TV using an unusual gamepad with buttons that are typical of Sony controllers.
According to IGN, the PS5 version will fully utilize the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for a deeper immersion, and technical improvements are also being developed for the PS5 Pro.
STALKER 2 was released on PC and Xbox Series X|S last November to mostly positive reviews from players. Microsoft, although not the publisher, was very supportive of the game’s development.
As noted by STALKER 2 game director Yevhen Grigorovich, Microsoft provided GSC with extensive support not only in optimizing the game, but also in many other areas. For example, the company helped Ukrainian developers «feel at home» on the Xbox platform and offered them real-time assistance.
Thanks to this, at the release of STALKER 2, the game was available on PC and Xbox consoles, including through the Game Pass subscription. Players expected that the project’s temporary exclusivity could last about three months, but STALKER 2 will come to PS5 almost a year after its release.
