The Dream Operator development team has released a demo of their upcoming game Tukoni: Forest Keepers, based on the books by Ukrainian artist Oksana Bula.
«The wait is over — the demo of Tukoni: Guardians of the Forest is now available on Steam! Immerse yourself in the story through the eyes of the Traveler, explore a secluded corner of the forest, meet magical creatures, and solve gentle puzzles while the Tukoni prepare for winter», — the developers announced.
The demo appeared as part of the Wholesome Games festival on Steam, dedicated to games that «inspire hope, joy, and introspection».
Tukoni: Forest Keepers is a cute and cozy puzzle adventure game where players take on the role of the Tukoni forest spirit, the Wanderer. The project builds on Tukoni: Prologue, which was released in late 2020.
«The idea of creating a full-fledged game in the Tukoni universe has been our dream since the release of Tukoni: Prologue in late 2020. We planned to start pre-production of the game in early 2022, but were forced to postpone it for over a year due to a full-scale invasion», — said Oleksiy Furman, founder of Dream Operator.
According to him, the sequel involves artist Oksana Bula, who acts as art director, creates images for the game, and coordinates the artists who joined the project.

dev.ua received early access to the Tukoni: Forest Keepers demo, which takes about 30 minutes to complete. It requires exploring the Yavir location, where players will help the Tukoni prepare for the arrival of winter.
The game resembles classic quests in the spirit of Amanita Design projects, in which you need to search for objects in locations and solve puzzles. Tukoni: Forest Keepers has bright and cozy graphics and a relaxed atmosphere that can lull you while solving seemingly simple puzzles.
For example, players need to help a toukon assemble a backpack in a kind of Tetris version, where the items can only be arranged in one correct order. Or brew a special tea for another toukon, choosing from its rich assortment of ingredients.
Tukoni: Forest Keepers is still missing a few features that could improve the gaming experience, such as lighting up interactive objects. However, it’s already a nice and cozy game that’s worth adding to your wishlist.
