Ukrainian developer Maksym Garagulin has unveiled his solo project Distantia. It’s an atmospheric 2D action platformer in pixel art style, which the author has been working on independently for the past year at his own expense.

The main character wakes up on a space station that looks familiar but operates according to strange rules. Players will have to observe their surroundings, experiment, and adapt to the hostile environment.
«I’ve been working on this game for quite some time. The main idea is that the game has hidden game mechanics that the player must discover in order to progress further and simply confront enemies more effectively,» said Maksym Garagulin.
In addition to exploration, Distantia promises dynamic combat scenes where survival will depend on the ability to exploit enemy weaknesses and discover hidden interactions in a world full of strange creatures.
Maksym Garagulin is an experienced illustrator from Kyiv, working at Room 8 Studio. He previously created concept art for major international projects, including the shooter Immortals of Aveum from Electronic Arts and Ascendant Studios. His own game Distantia became a platform for him to experiment with game design.
The project already has a page on Steam, which claims Ukrainian text localization.
