He believes that construction workers, electricians, and plumbers will be able to earn «six-figure salaries» thanks to this.
«We’re seeing a pretty significant boom in this industry. Salaries have almost doubled,» Bloomberg quotes Huang as saying in Davos in an interview with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.
According to Huang, this technology will require one of the largest infrastructure developments in human history, with trillions of dollars in new investment.
«Everyone should have the opportunity to earn a good living. You don’t need a PhD in computer science to do that,» he added.
Huang’s comments echo those voiced at Davos by Palantir CEO Alex Karp, who said AI will create more local jobs and largely eliminate the need for mass immigration. Coreweave’s Michael Intrator also touched on the AI boom at the Davos panel, and also spoke about the growing need for plumbers, electricians and carpenters.
Meanwhile, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned of a «white-collar bloodbath» that could wipe out 50% of entry-level jobs.
«We’re entering a world where the tasks of junior software engineers — and perhaps many of the tasks of senior software engineers — are starting to be largely performed by artificial intelligence systems. Now it’s going to go even further,» Amodei said in an interview with Bloomberg House in Davos.
In his words, «there will be a whole group of people in many industries who will have a hard time dealing with this.»
At the same time, as dev.ua wrote, the «godfather of AI» believes that the technology will not be able to bring profit without taking away people’s labor and will contribute to new wars.
