«I want to share some sad news with you and at the same time warn middle and junior level 3D artists. A month ago I was hired at a studio called Blue Tower Studio, an outsourcing company. I found a vacancy on ingamejob for the role of junior character artist. I received a letter in the mail about an interview on Kyiv time, but only in Russian,» says Vladyslav.
Based on the words of the manager he spoke with, the man says that the company is involved in mobile games.
«They offered to pay $600 (for June, I thought it was a good start). There were few employees, according to them they only worked with one customer. I signed an NDA. From the very beginning of work, I had a bad feeling: I thought I would either be fired or thrown out,» Vladislav notes.
Initially, the specialist’s work consisted of remodeling modular characters, cleaning the model, sweeping, and texturing, then there were orders for sculpting and modeling characters and creatures.
«There was great feedback for all the jobs. Everyone was nice, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is a great company!’ despite my hunch. But a month later, when it was time for paychecks, they all just Poof! And disappeared. Disappeared. Not online on Discord, and blocked. Before that, they gave me a new task. I could have thought that I lacked skills, and I was fired so gracefully, but the feedback was always great,» the specialist shares.
Vladyslav does not attach screenshots of correspondence, as he signed a non-disclosure agreement. «I will not attach screenshots of NDA, photos of employees, because, most likely, all this is a hoax. On ingamejob I saw similar vacancies only for the middle level, probably from these same people, but I will not disclose them, because I could be mistaken and denigrate a great company,» he notes.
The man also described his former employer for those who may encounter them in the future.
«Once again, I’m sure there are awesome companies with the same characteristics, so don’t lump all companies together. I described this particular company to warn beginner and intermediate 3D artists. It was a sad experience, a month of life was fucked up, but things happen, life doesn’t end there, and if something like this happens to you, you don’t need to despair, you can just wish them well (I hope they don’t have as much time as I spent on work, they won’t be constipated), «the artist summed up.
