The SBU reported that they detained the attacker in July 2025. He turned out to be a 32-year-old IT specialist from Kyiv. Messages for Russians were found on his smartphone, in which he helped bypass Ukrainian air defenses to strike energy facilities. Aitivets himself found recruiters on Telegram, where he offered his help in the war against Ukraine for money.
The traitor traveled around the Kyiv region and marked the geolocations of active energy facilities on electronic maps. He also took photographs of the external facades of potential "targets" with reference to the terrain. Aitivec also monitored air defense bases.
After the attacks, a Russian agent arrived at the "arrival" sites to record the consequences of the Russian attacks and transmit the data obtained for the preparation of new attacks.
The court found the perpetrator guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). It provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Recall that last fall, cyber experts and SBU investigators exposed an Internet agitator in Zhytomyr who was expecting the "liberation" of the city by racists, insulted Ukrainians, and openly justified the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine. He turned out to be a 53-year-old IT specialist who had already come to the attention of the special services due to his anti-Ukrainian stance.
