DevDroid has taught the NRC to move without Starlink and turn back if the connection is not restored. How does it work?
Ukrainian company DevDroid has updated its Droid Box, its ground robot control system. Now they can independently navigate areas where Starlink is unavailable, and if the connection still doesn't appear, turn back.

One common problem with ground-based robots is losing connectivity at certain points along the route. For example, when the NRC passes under a bridge, the Starlink signal can disappear, leaving the operator unable to control the robot.
To prevent the robot from stopping in such a situation, the soldier can specify in advance the distance that the robot should travel on its own. After that, the NRC will try to reestablish communication. If this is successful, control will be transferred back to the operator. If not, the robot will return to its starting point.
In addition, DevDroid has begun installing thermal imaging cameras on ground attack robots. They are designed to improve visibility for operators, especially in the dark. Systems with such cameras have already been handed over to the military.
Earlier, dev.ua wrote that DevDroid began installing microphones and speakers on its ground robots. According to the company's R&D director Oleg Fedoryshyn, sound helps operators notice things that are not visible through cameras, such as approaching enemy drones or equipment. In addition, the speakers have already been used to contact the wounded during evacuation.
