Telegram is preparing an update that should address one of the most painful problems of channels — spam bots in reactions and cheating in polls. This was announced by the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov.
According to him, the team is already working on a tool that will allow administrators to literally «clean» reactions. This means the ability to ban a user directly from the list of those who left a reaction, as well as delete all of their previous actions. The same functions will be opened for bots — via the Bot API, so that moderation can be automated.
At the same time, Telegram is moving in another painful direction — poll rigging. Durov says the messenger is testing tools that will help channel owners better control voting and cut off manipulation.
In particular, we are talking about expanded poll statistics, the ability to limit voting to channel subscribers only, as well as filtering participants by country. The latter approach is not new for Telegram: similar restrictions have already been used before, for example, during the events in Belarus in 2020.
In fact, the messenger is gradually moving from a maximally open model to a more managed ecosystem, where administrators gain more control over what happens in their communities. And it seems that this is a response to the reality, where bots have long learned to imitate «live» activity.
