The exact plans of Project Prometheus are still unknown, but its main focus is on artificial intelligence, which can improve production in industries such as computing, automobiles, and aerospace, writes The Verge.
Project Prometheus is already one of the most funded early-stage startups in the world, with $6.2 billion in investment, some of it from Bezos himself. In addition to funding the startup, he will help run the company alongside co-founder Vic Bajaj.
Vic Bajaj, a physicist and chemist, previously worked at Google X, the company’s experimental “factory of ambitious projects.” He then headed up the health technology company Verily, which is owned by Alphabet.
Project Prometheus already has nearly 100 employees, including former employees of OpenAI, DeepMind, and Meta.
This will be Bezos' first official operational role since he stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021. Although he has previously shown a keen interest in his space company Blue Origin.
