Ukrainian retail holding Fozzy Group is implementing organizational changes and laying off some employees in the holding’s office teams, Silpo chain, and logistics from November 1. Previously, specialists from the MAUDAU marketplace, Fozzy Group’s TemaBit developers, and the E-commerce & Ecosystem department have already been subject to optimization.
The company announced the reduction in its social media address. The main reason for this decision in Fozzy Group is the significant increase in the impact of the war on business operations and the loss of infrastructure capacity.
According to the holding, between August 1 and September 25 alone, the Russians destroyed or damaged more than 20 of the company’s facilities — distribution centers, supermarkets, and production sites. As a result, Fozzy Group lost part of its infrastructure and inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of the network became significantly more expensive.
"In these conditions, we have to reconsider where to focus our efforts and resources. We are putting some projects and tasks on hold, abandoning some, and looking for new solutions for others," the company said.
Despite the reduction in administrative staff, Fozzy Group continues to hire line personnel for supermarkets, warehouses and production facilities throughout Ukraine, as well as restore destroyed facilities and build new logistics routes. The laid-off employees are promised assistance with employment, resume preparation and recommendations.
On September 2, it became known that Fozzy Group was suspending the hiring of new employees, canceling bonuses for the third and fourth quarters, and postponing the salary review planned for the fall. In mid-September, it became known that the IT company TemaBit, which develops technological solutions for Fozzy Group and its brands Silpo, Fora, Fozzy, and others, could lay off almost 100 developers. The company took this step to optimize costs after a series of devastating Russian strikes on its logistics and production infrastructure.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian IT company HOLYWATER TECH is "optimizing the team structure" to reallocate resources in favor of key business units. The "reorganization" process affected 37 employees, which is about 12% of the company’s total staff.
