Fozzy Group is suspending hiring, canceling Q3 and Q4 bonuses, and postponing a salary review scheduled for the fall. The company is forced to optimize costs after a series of devastating Russian strikes on its logistics and production infrastructure.
The changes in the retailer’s work became known from an internal team letter, a copy of which was received by Forbes Ukraine. The Fozzy Group press service confirmed this information and reported that during August alone, 10 distribution centers that provided supplies to Silpo, Fora, Thrash! Thrash! and Fozzy stores were affected by Russian shelling.
«We lost part of our logistics and production infrastructure and inventory. At the same time, logistics costs increased significantly, as we had to quickly restructure routes and restore supply chains,» the company’s press service noted.
The group’s main operational priority at the moment is to stabilize supply and maintain financial sustainability. In addition to canceling bonuses and suspending hiring, Fozzy Group has temporarily paused its voluntary health insurance program from October 1. The company emphasizes that these decisions are not permanent and will be reviewed after the stabilization of financial results and cash flows.
Systematic attacks on the retailer’s warehouses continued throughout August. In particular, the shelling on August 5 caused fires at two Silpo distribution centers, killing six employees. The Fora chain estimated its losses at UAH 1.15 billion at the time. Subsequent attacks on alternative warehouses on August 20 and 27 caused additional damage of over UAH 100 million.
The commentary notes that the operating units — Fozzy Group Logistics and the Silpo chain — continue active recruitment throughout Ukraine through restructuring routes and opening new stores.
As of the end of August, the company has 1,614 open vacancies: 940 in logistics, 535 in supermarkets, and 139 in production. The most in-demand positions are loaders, goods receivers, salespeople, cooks, bakers, pickers, and middle managers.
«After the Russian attacks, we are very quickly rebuilding logistics. At the same time, we continue to open new supermarkets. In the last week alone, we have opened three supermarkets, in which we have hired 170 Perevershnyky. We have a lot of work, and we need people. Therefore, we are now looking for new colleagues in supermarkets, warehouses and production facilities throughout Ukraine,» noted Lyubov Ukrainets, HR Director of Silpo and Fozzy Group Logistics.

It was previously reported that ROZETKA is optimizing its staff due to the loss of part of its business after Russian attacks .
«Unfortunately, we are forced to optimize the staff, and this is painful for me personally. The reduction will affect some departments. More than 1,000 employees worked at the facility in Brovary. We are transferring most of them to other warehouses and looking for an opportunity to provide them with work. It will not work to offer everyone alternative jobs in this situation. The circumstances turned out to be stronger,» said ROZETKA co-founder Iryna Chechotkina.
