IT-guy Artem Аleksandrov launched Fridgea, an iOS app for tracking the amount of food at home. The idea came from his own pain: something was constantly spoiling in the refrigerator because he simply forgot about the existence of this «something.»
«Everyone has a lonely lemon somewhere in their fridge that is already half-dead. And then there’s the classic scene in the store: you stand by the shelf and wonder if you have it at home. You take it. You already have it at home,» says Аleksandrov.
The development took a couple of months in between his main work. The team is himself and a little bit of his girlfriend. The development budget is practically zero, if you don’t count his own time.
The application is currently approaching its first thousand users. Oleksandrov says he was sure he wasn’t the only one. Judging by the fact that the app is already live in the App Store and is developing, he was right.
The application allows you to create a list of products in the refrigerator and a shopping list — after the store, you can transfer the purchased items «to the refrigerator» with one movement. It has a sharing option via iCloud — it solves the problem of two loaves of bread when both partners buy the same thing because they didn’t know about each other.
And in the latest version, AI recipes based on what’s in the fridge and barcode scanning have appeared.
