"No matter how dynamically Nova Poshta develops abroad, they do not take away our volumes," Yulia Pavlenko, director of the international operations department of Ukrposhta, told Interfax-Ukraine in an interview.
She added that today, according to her estimates, Ukrposhta serves over 60% of international parcel traffic from Ukraine, both in export and import.
"Each operator has its own strengths. For example, the strength of Ukrposhta is the lack of volumetric weight. It is very rare when the physical and volumetric weight coincide. This is of great importance, because Ukrainians, as a rule, send abroad and receive clothes, household household items that are bulky. We provide customers with a free return service abroad," Pavlenko noted.
In her opinion, it is unlikely that any of the local players — Ukrainian payment systems — can count on the consent of large foreign marketplaces to integrate. Yulia reminded that such a form as post-payment for sales abroad does not exist.
"No eBay seller will sell any goods to Ukraine on post-payment terms. The same goes for Ukrainian sellers of goods in the US. Therefore, I do not think that the presence of NovaPay gives Nova Poshta many advantages in international trade," the expert believes.
"I am in favor of us competing and thus jointly developing the market, which is very capacious. For example, in Ukraine, one person receives an average of seven to eight parcels per year. In the same Poland, it is 29," Yulia Pavlenko concluded.
