Members of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Fields of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum, and Postal Services elected Lilia Malyon as the new head by secret ballot.
She will replace Oleksandr Zhyvotovsky, whose term of office has expired.
Liliya Malyon has been working at the National Commission for Electronic Communications and Electronic Communications since 2012, and has been a member of the national regulatory body since 2021. The National Commission’s statement notes her many years of experience in the field of electronic communications and international cooperation. In particular, she led the direction of Ukraine’s European integration in the field of communications.
Malone worked on Ukraine’s accession to the EU’s single roaming area «Roaming like home». She also represented Ukraine at international events on the development and sustainability of the electronic communications sector, and ensured cooperation with foreign regulators and EU institutions.
During one of these trips to Europe, Lilia Malyon spoke with dev.ua about «free roaming» for Ukrainians in Europe, communication problems in Ukraine, as well as the international successes of the Ukrainian telecom regulator.
«From the first days of the full-scale war against Ukraine, the Russian Federation has shown leadership in coordinating the involvement of international support and assistance to Ukraine in the field of electronic communications and the postal sector, including those aimed at restoring damaged telecom infrastructure, as well as suspending/limiting the presence of the aggressor state in sectoral international and regional organizations,» the NCEC commented on Malyon’s appointment.
