Maria Tymoshenko, the founder of the confectionery store «House Number», commented on users' questions about the use of generative artificial intelligence in the design of the company’s labels. She explained that «not everything that resembles AI is».
On her X (Twitter) account, Tymoshenko posted a screenshot of a message from a customer accusing her of using AI. The message is about a milk chocolate wrapper with apple marmalade and cinnamon, created by the confectionery «Number of House».
«I saw that you have fancy chocolate wrappers. The question is, why? You have an expensive, high-quality craft product. This stupidly cheapens the appearance of the product. It doesn’t cost that much to make normal illustrations once. You have chocolates of an interesting segment, not a light bulb. That’s how we do it. Did you pick an apple with two asses? Something has become very sad», — these messages say.
According to Maria Tymoshenko, ideas and inspiration for label design come from «life, from childhood memories, from works of art, from what surrounds us,» and dozens of hours of research and work can be spent on a single illustration. She said that the artist who created the chocolate wrapper design was inspired by several paintings, including Camille Pissarro’s «Still Life with Apples and Pitcher» from 1872 and John F. Francis’ «Still Life, Apples and Chestnuts» from 1859.
«The double apple, which could have suggested that it was AI, was taken from a calligraphy book from 1561. It seems that artificial intelligence did not exist then,» the founder of «House Number» emphasized.

Tymoshenko added that «not everything that resembles AI is,» and assured that she and the illustrator put «many hours of work, inspiration, and resources» into their work. She also posted a video showing that the image for the chocolate cover was created in a graphics editor, not generated by artificial intelligence.
In the comments to her posts on X (Twitter), most users supported the founder of the confectionery shop and illustrator, and pointed out the excessive pickiness towards artists due to the development of AI. However, some commentators noted that the apple on the wrapper does indeed have an unusual appearance.
Recall that previously, Threads users drew attention to the possible use of artificial intelligence technologies in the translation of the book «Encyclopedia of Fairies» by Vivat Publishing House. The company’s technical support denied the use of AI and noted that this was an editor’s comment that was published in error.
