Ukrainian created an interactive periodic table of chemical elements Periodicium

Reddit user Dunkelhaiser shared his project, a free interactive periodic table called Periodicium. According to the developer, the service is ad-free and was created with the aim of surpassing existing analogues in functionality and convenience.
“Periodicium is an interactive periodic table that I started developing this summer. I tried to make it more feature-rich, data-rich, and user-friendly than existing counterparts. It is completely free and ad-free,” Dunkelhaiser noted .
The project was built using the TanStack Start framework and packaged in Docker with the Caddy web server. The developer then deployed it on a small Netcup VPS server and connected it to the Bunny CDN content delivery network.
The developer also shared that the most difficult challenges during the work were data collection, PWA integration, and interface development: “The most difficult stages of development were finding, checking, and transforming all the information about the elements; implementing PWA support (unfortunately, no PWA plugin currently supports TanStack Start, and to be honest, most of the work on the PWA was done by Claude); and thinking through the UI and UX.”
Currently, Periodicium offers users a wide range of tools:
Flexible table display: support for modern long form (18 columns) and traditional short form (8 groups), filter settings, heat map of properties, and display of the phase state of elements depending on temperature.
Detailed element cards: visualized Bohr model, electron configuration, radii, oxidation states, crystal structure, heating curve, spectroscopy, natural abundance, isotopes, and discovery history.
Auxiliary chemical tools: interactive compound solubility table, table of known nuclides with decay chains, as well as acidity indicator module (litmus, phenolphthalein, methyl orange, universal) with dynamic pH scale.
Convenience and export: ability to compare items side by side, searchable/sortable lists, interactive printable designer (export to SVG/PNG), and support for quick command search (e.g. typing "short" changes the table shape, and "fe spectr" opens iron spectroscopy).
The application can also be installed on a device as a PWA.
The author noted that the development of the project is ongoing, and an update is expected soon: "Over time, new functionality will be added, in particular, a molar mass calculator and an equation solver are already in development."
Finally, the developer asked the community to test the web resource and evaluate its performance.
"I would be happy if you tried Periodicium and shared your impressions (I would especially appreciate feedback from chemistry specialists)."
“Working with IoT is like playing God, but with code.” The chemist from Kharkiv “didn’t leave science, he just changed the formula,” having trained himself to be a developer. He now optimizes the services of the American Mercury Intermedia and has his own app.
The International Exhibition of Inventions.
