This is reported by TechCrunch with reference to the Financial Times.
Last fall, the startup already raised $1 billion in cash (with a possible valuation of $5 billion) to develop secure artificial intelligence systems.
SSI did not comment on the new investment, which was reportedly led by investment firm Greenoaks. Earlier reports suggested that Alphabet, which has its own AI models, and Nvidia, which has unveiled its new AI chip, could join the Safe Superintelligence funding.
Sutzkever left OpenAI in May 2024 after being implicated in a failed attempt to oust CEO Sam Altman. He founded SSI with Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, and they said the company had «one goal and one product: safe superintelligence.»
This product is probably still in development, and the SSI website is still just a placeholder, stating only the startup’s mission.
