Expenses for the IT department of the state-owned PrivatBank in 2024 could reach about $72 million.
This is evidenced by Forbes Ukraine’s calculations, because, according to the financial institution’s press service, more than 2,000 IT professionals work at the state-owned PrivatBank.
«This is the largest IT department among Ukrainian banks. In 2024, Privat increased the hiring of IT specialists by 225%, according to the recruitment platform Djinni. The bank rose from 20th place to fourth in terms of the number of jobs, ahead of IT companies Netpeak Group and Ajax Systems,» the publication writes.
Forbes emphasizes that the service companies DataArt and Intellias, which are among the top 10 Ukrainian IT companies, have 2,200-2,300 employees, which is comparable to the bank in terms of the number of IT specialists.
The increase in the number of vacancies in the IT department is related to the development of digital product functions and new strategic projects of PrivatBank, the press service said in a response.
The publication reminds that in January 2024, PrivatBank launched «Envelopes» — a service for collecting donations and accumulating money. Another major project is the AI-based discount and cashback program «Privit», launched in May. The bank also joined the state initiative «National Cashback», which started in September.
As of December 2024, the bank has over 370 open vacancies on the Work.ua platform. Almost 14% of them are in IT. «These are high- and mid-level positions with specialization in data work, also interested in project managers and architects,» the press service said in a response.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that PrivatBank topped the rating of banks operating in Ukraine by the number of technical specialists in IT teams. In total, 73,572 specialists work in the 15 banks on the list, of which 8,418 are in IT departments.
