EPAM IT volunteers created the "Collect a Backpack" platform for the "Leleka" charity foundation, which is raising UAH 1 million to purchase 25 complete backpacks for combat medics. One such backpack can save up to 10 lives. The platform itself is built on the principle of gamification.
On the “Collect a Backpack” platform, donors can choose a comfortable contribution amount, symbolically filling a combat medic’s backpack — from a separate occlusion sticker to a basic backpack. The platform also allows you to track important dynamics: the number of filled backpacks and the possible number of lives saved.
The development of the platform took about a month and was a challenge for a team of four specialists. As Anna Dvornikova, EPAM designer, notes, significant attention was paid to detailed graphics and adapting the design of the mobile version to make the platform user-friendly. To date, a third of the amount has already been raised, which will save over 80 lives.
Yuriy Gurtovy, EPAM Senior Designer, who created the concept of the solution, is convinced that the gamified approach makes the collection more qualitative. "When working on such developments, we think first of all about the people we help and those who will invest their money in it. That is, our task is to create a connection between both groups. When we ask for donations, we must show a story so that people associate and make a donation not out of pity, but with awareness of their impact and result. That is why we added a gallery of who we help and what exactly."
