"As I write this post, I'm receiving threats." Recruiter complains about former employer for late salary payments and claims threats from company manager
Recruiter Karolina Slipchenko said that she has been waiting for a settlement from her former employer since December, and even received threats for asking about her salary. The girl claims that the company owner plans to sue her because of the publicity.
Recruiter Karolina Slipchenko said that she has been waiting for a settlement from her former employer since December, and even received threats for asking about her salary. The girl claims that the company owner plans to sue her because of the publicity.
«This is not how I imagined my first post on this network, but I want to share my impressions of my latest experience working at the recruitment company Imperia HR. So, in August, when looking for a job, like everyone else, I went through a number of interviews at different companies, but I chose Imperia HR because of the nice words and promises. But after working for the first 1.5 months, I saw that employees are not valued here, they promise you a lot, but they do not fulfill it. In this company, led by Dmitry Kovalev, there is only devastation and empty promises. Having worked for more than one month in the company, I have only systematically seen salary delays, salary payments in installments, and hourly voice messages about how the company always has no money and is expecting payments from employers,» she wrote .
According to the specialist, every month, as the salary date approached, she already understood that she had to beg for money. «Also, in order to get a salary, you had to explain what your urgent financial needs were, without this you will not get the money. When, after working for three months, I realized that my mental health was more important to me, I decided to inform Dmitry Kovalev that I was quitting — this happened on November 26. Hearing about my dismissal, Dmitry immediately called me, and for another half a day, as a monologue, he told me how wonderful everything was in the company, and that they provide, and they only provide depression, self-doubt, fear of the voice and humiliation. «I was supposed to work two weeks, but I agreed to finish by the end of the year (for a number of reasons), but one of the reasons was that I understood that if I didn’t finish by the end of December, I wouldn’t get my salary,» the specialist says.
Carolina begins by saying that she is writing this post for maximum publicity: «This is necessary so that everyone who is looking for a job, whether it is for this company or another company recruited through Imperia HR, knows who they are dealing with, and chooses the best for themselves!»
The girlwants justice, because as of February 5, 2025, she still has not received her salary for December. She notes that she did not sign «any contract, agreement, or settlement for an individual entrepreneur that you open for yourself» with the company.
She also notes that the head of the company is threatening to ruin my reputation. «While I am writing this post, I am receiving threats from Dmitry Kovalev himself, that he will give me a bad reputation and no company will hire me, that all recruiters worked as sole proprietors (by the way, recruiters also paid taxes on their own) and without a contract. Tomorrow he plans to talk to lawyers to oblige me to return the money he paid me for my work and file a lawsuit to seize my property,» the specialist noted. «At the moment, the threatening correspondence has been completely deleted by Dmitry Kovalev, but I have these threats in my archive. «.
She added screenshots of her conversation with Dmytro to the post. However, since he was recording the voice, it is unclear what exactly he said.
«Due to the publicity, Dmytro is already planning to sue me, so I think this will not be resolved in the best way,» said Karolina.
dev.ua contacted Imperia HR to comment on the situation.
The community left dozens of comments on Karolina’s post.
«When I was looking for a job, I had an interview with them, I had never encountered such unprofessionalism during communication. He asked the same question twice, because he simply listened to my answer, but he himself argued that he thought I was reading information from somewhere, and he wanted me to repeat it. And a lot more, and this was in a 40-minute conversation, so when I received an invitation to work, I refused immediately. My only regret is that I did not immediately interrupt the conversation during the interview. If there are red flags at the first meeting, then there will be much more of them during cooperation,» recruiter Oksana Matveyenko shares her experience of communicating with Dmitry.
«I sympathize, in the city of Rivne everyone knows who Kovalev is, about his grandtoys (a wholesale toy store where no one was hired), about the fact that at the beginning of the war he was no longer here, but was doing business from abroad. And the word Imperia HR makes all the city’s employees laugh,» notes HRD Halyna L.
«As expected, this company has stable open vacancies for the position of recruiter on work.ua. It’s a shame that you encountered such an attitude,» says Talent Acquisition Sourcer Iryna Babchuk.
Recruiter Tanya Gamota claims that the company is registered to Dmytro’s mother. «Read the reviews about them, and you will understand everything yourself. But it will be an experience that you need to read the reviews of employees about the company before each interview,» she advises. «While at the interview, I immediately realized that something was wrong, because he allowed me to swear and communicate like a rag*l. And that’s why I went to read the reviews of employees. And then, maybe, I would have agreed to the offer.»
«It’s not for nothing that I blocked the vacancies of this company when looking for a job. For some reason they pissed me off — there were so many of them, it was impossible to see the others, and I blocked them. I didn’t communicate with them, but my intuition didn’t let me down, as far as I can see,» says recruiter Karina Begal.
HR Specialist Viktoriya Kucheryavenko said that her friend worked at the company in question. «There was a similar story. Run away from them, people! Scammers looking for slaves!» she notes.
Victoria Sterbetskaya says that she also has experience working with the company. «True, after two days of working with these ‘employers’, a colleague from my previous job enlightened me with feedback about the company and the Kovalevs themselves. I immediately refused the offer to work. A month later, he wrote to me on Telegram, ‘Victoria, why did you decide to refuse?’ I am a polite person and did not answer him. And now my fingers are itching to write ‘because you are ****ers’,» she wrote.
«The recruiter is not the enemy.» Why hiring specialists sometimes don’t read resumes (or so candidates think) and ask questions whose answers are already given
The recruiter recommended a skilled Python candidate to her colleague. However, they did not consider the candidate because the girl «started out as a cashier.» Is that OK?
«I had to decline. The reason is I’m too lazy.» The recruiter offered the candidate a job as a sysadmin assistant, but he refused with an interesting phrase.
