Vadym Sukharevskyi emphasized that fiber-optic FPV drones are actually dangerous weapons, writes Radio Liberty, citing the words of the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces in an interview with the Donbass Realities project.
He reported that in recent weeks alone, various agencies have codified more than 14 manufacturers of fiber-optic drones with general parameters from 10 to 15 km with coils of various types. Sukharevskyi considers such developments to be truly dangerous weapons and noted «certain ideas and results» in this direction among Ukrainian manufacturers. But he has not yet disclosed the details.
According to Sukharevskiy, the enemy began using the first applications of FPV drones on fiber optics at the beginning of the summer, and now the development phase of this direction on their part is again active.
«And right now, the next step is behind us. We must use this technology to our advantage and find an effective means of combating it,» added the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
He highlighted two aspects from which he views fiber-optic FPV drones, including:
Sukharevskiy stressed that although our guys are already learning and adapting to these drones, the enemy currently has access to a number of partner technologies and resources. That is why, in his opinion, our diplomats should ask our partners to limit the supply of fiber optics to Russia.
