A Swedish startup has created miniature Kreuger 100 drones that, despite their tiny size, can shoot down Russian Orlans and Shahed

Swedish startup Nordic Air Defence has developed the Kreuger 100 platform, which launches ultra-small drones to intercept swarms of UAVs. They can be launched from a handheld device or a compact ground-based system.
Thanks to investments of 1.2 million euros from private investors, Nordic Air Defence is creating a device capable of countering Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones and Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones, Army Recognition reports. The funds raised last fall will help the company accelerate research, development and air testing.
The Kreuger 100 is a lightweight, dual-purpose (civilian/military) drone interceptor platform that prioritizes cost-effectiveness and operational scalability. Designed to replace traditional interceptors that rely heavily on expensive onboard sensors, cameras, and propulsion systems, the Kreuger 100 instead uses a pulsed propulsion system and software-based flight controls to track and intercept targets.
The miniature interceptors can reach speeds of up to 270 kilometers per hour in civilian configuration, and can reach significantly higher speeds in military configuration. The interceptor is battery-powered and designed for manual launch, including from hand-held or portable launchers, allowing it to be used in both static and mobile defense scenarios.
The system features a software-driven architecture with advanced control algorithms that steer the interceptor using controlled aerodynamics rather than expensive mechanical components. It includes an infrared tracking system capable of operating 24/7 in a variety of weather conditions, including overcast conditions and at night.
Its design eliminates much of the conventional equipment used in traditional systems, reducing production costs by a factor of ten compared to standard interceptors or missiles.

The Kreuger 100 has a modular design that allows for payload and launcher configurations tailored to the specific mission and operational environment.
About Nordic Air Defence
This is a Stockholm-based startup that came out of stealth mode in late 2024. The company was created with the stated goal of reducing Europe’s dependence on foreign defense supply chains, especially those originating in the United States.
Its team includes people with previous experience working in defense and technology organizations such as Palantir, Kratos, FOI, Saab, Codon, Katla, Quantum Systems, and Zipline. The company’s work spans unmanned aerial vehicle technologies, artificial intelligence, and defense systems integration.
Recall that at the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian manufacturer of combat FPV drones «Wild Hornets» showed testing a new version of the Sting drone, designed to intercept Russian-Iranian Shahed-136 kamikazes. On social networks, it was compared to a fighter jet from Star Wars.
Ukrainian operators previously tested the German-made Tytan drone to personally verify its capabilities. This UAV is designed to intercept Russian-Iranian Shahed drones and enemy reconnaissance drones and can be controlled from a portable Steam Deck gaming console.
