Up to $150 per hour: LinkedIn tests the market for “AI coaches”
LinkedIn is starting to enter a new segment — artificial intelligence training. The platform is testing a so-called «AI labor marketplace» format, where users can earn money by helping train chatbots.
LinkedIn is starting to enter a new segment — artificial intelligence training. The platform is testing a so-called «AI labor marketplace» format, where users can earn money by helping train chatbots.
This is a new type of gig work: people evaluate AI responses, test it for errors, and help improve the quality of the models.
How much do they pay?
According to the company, rates can reach up to $150 per hour, depending on expertise.
For example:
Finance or Excel specialists — up to $100/hour
medical workers — at $100/hour
senior developers — up to $150/hour
Linguists or testers («red team») — $40–100/hour
Dozens of vacancies for such roles have already appeared on the platform, writes Business Insider .
What kind of work is this?
AI trainers are people who actually «train» models: checking responses, assessing quality, looking for weaknesses. This market is growing rapidly against the backdrop of the generative AI boom and has already spawned a separate class of startups that connect AI companies with people. Among the clients of such platforms are, in particular, Anthropic and other model developers.
In fact, LinkedIn is entering a niche where there are already strong players.
For example, the startup Mercor grew to a valuation of $10 billion in a year, and Surge AI (which develops Data Annotation) is valued at $24 billion.
LinkedIn has also launched a job notification feature so users can quickly connect with new opportunities.
Along with market growth, problems also emerge, particularly in the area of data security.
Scale AI was previously at the center of a scandal over a leak of confidential information, and Mercor recently suffered a serious breach that led to lawsuits.
LinkedIn заблокував пост айтішника «за булінг та харасмент». Раніше він поскаржився в підтримку на іншого користувача, що звинуватив українську IT-компанію у нацизмі
