SoftServe founder Taras Kytsmey believes that manual testers will be among the first specialists to be displaced from the market by the development of artificial intelligence. This thesis was confirmed in an interview with LIGA.net by SoftServe Ukraine head Anastasia Frolova, specifying the condition under which this can be avoided.
«If they don’t master new tools, yes,» says Frolova, agreeing with Kitsmey’s prediction. According to her, the path for such specialists is: «Maybe they should become automated testers using AI tools.»
Frolova emphasizes that the issue is broader than the fate of one specialty: the market will have to prepare for professions that simply do not exist today. As an example, she cites the role of an Intelligence Engineer — a specialist who implements AI tools into the work of teams, configures agents, and organizes multi-agent environments. «A few years ago, such a profession did not exist. Some professions will die out — but others will appear in their place,» she says.
The changes, the expert notes, affect not only narrow specializations such as testing, but also general requirements for AI literacy at all levels. According to Frolova, newcomers to the company often master working with artificial intelligence more organically than more experienced colleagues, since they have already grown up in an environment where these tools are the norm.
