Chill Guy author Philip Banks created it in October 2023. The meme gained popularity after appearing on TikTok under the hashtag #ChillVibes. Just this month, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, and billionaire Elon Musk shared the meme on their social media pages.

Subsequently, a corresponding meme token called Just a chill guy (CHILLGUY) appeared on the Solana blockchain, a popular memcoin launch platform due to its low fees and high transaction speed. It quickly gained popularity among the crypto community. Since mid-November, the capitalization of the CHILLGUY memcoin reached $500 million in just a few days, although it started with $10 million. However, later it amounted to $399 million and went up to the mark of more than $405 million.

At the same time, users should exercise special caution and carefully study the potential project. After all, this year it became known that about 50% of presales in the Solana ecosystem turned out to be scams. We are talking about the projects that raised funds in the period from November 2023 to February 2024.

The most benefit from the meme should be its creator, Phillip Banks. However, he wants to file a complaint because of the commercial use of the work without permission, particularly in the form of cryptocurrency tokens. After Banks' statement, the value of the token fell by 54%, but quickly recovered. At the same time, the community created a donation wallet for the benefit of the artist, collecting about $300,000, but the artist is not yet interested in these funds.
