Microsoft raises prices on entire new Xbox lineup, games, and console peripherals

When these consoles first launched nearly five years ago, the base Xbox Series S and Series X models cost $299.99 and $499.99, respectively. Now, Microsoft is recommending that retailers raise prices to $379.99 for the base Xbox Series S and $599.99 for the Xbox Series X, The Verge reports .
The standard Xbox Wireless Controller will now cost $64.99, while the Elite Series 2 controllers will go up to $149.99 and $199.99, depending on the model. Xbox is also raising the prices of its games, with the company saying that starting this holiday season, some games will cost $79.99.
Nintendo also recently raised the standard price of its games from $59.99 to $79.99 for games on the upcoming Switch 2 console. Most analysts predict that the price of games worldwide could rise to $100 with the release of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, which is scheduled for release this fall.
