Polish-Ukrainian startup Molfar raises €1.5 million from Swedish investors to develop UAV detection systems

Molfar Defence Technologies, a Polish-Ukrainian defense technology company developing tactical radar systems for detecting small unmanned aerial vehicles, has announced the closing of the first tranche of its €2 million investment round. The company’s lead investor and first institutional partner is Swedish investment firm Front Ventures, which invested €1.5 million.
The raised funding will be used to expand Molfar’s engineering team in the areas of radar technology, signal processing and system integration. The company is also opening an office in Ukraine to strengthen its presence in key application environments and accelerate cooperation with the Armed Forces, which are already involved in testing and validating the technology. Field trials are planned in Ukraine and NATO countries. The company’s goal is to move from prototype to field-proven systems ready for operational deployment.
The company, founded in 2026, develops tactical radar systems for the early detection of small, low-flying UAVs in combat conditions. The development is designed to solve one of the main problems of modern air defense — reliable detection of drones at the tactical level, which is critically important against the background of the increasing autonomy of drones and the use of swarm tactics in modern warfare. Molfar modular systems are available with 90° and 360° viewing sectors, can operate autonomously or as additional sensors in existing air defense architectures, and their key technologies are already at the patent stage.
The startup's technological solutions are based on its own multidimensional system of structural representation of targets and advanced signal processing algorithms. By analyzing the physical characteristics of air objects, the radars reliably distinguish drones from birds or other obstacles, maintaining stability in any weather and in a complex electromagnetic environment. In addition, the unique architecture of the system uses special signal shapes and operating modes that minimize the risk of detection and localization of the radar itself by the enemy, turning it into a stable element of air defense.
“We are pleased to welcome Front Ventures as the first investor and strategic partner of Molfar Defence Technologies. Their support is an important milestone on the way to creating a new radar layer of a modern air defense system. Molfar was created to provide units with early detection of microdrones and small UAVs. We develop tactical radar systems that can be deployed directly next to the units that need them and scaled for use in real defense operations,” says Max Dzherikhov, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Molfar Defence Technologies.
