Recall that in March, Vyriy Drone was the first Ukrainian manufacturer to announce the release of a batch of 1,000 UAVs with 100% localization in Ukraine. We asked what the company’s vision is for continuing and scaling this approach.
«This is our strategic direction. We are constantly increasing the level of localization — both in terms of the percentage of the products themselves and in terms of the percentage of localization of components. We do not focus on numbers: whether it is 90% of Ukrainian components in drones, or 100%. The main thing is high-quality products that work effectively on the front. He added that the issue of a complete transition to Ukrainian components is not utopian, and now among the non-localized mass components, the company still has cameras. «Although the thermal imaging one is already localized, the regular one is not yet,» he noted.
He added that there are already prototypes of daytime cameras, but the company has not yet had the time to launch them into series production.
According to Dmytro Babenko, in a production drone they have over 80% localization.
«There is an issue with cameras, but it is definitely not a problem that cannot be solved. As for other products, we did not even set the task of calculating the level of localization in repeaters and ground stations. Firstly, these are not such mass products. Secondly, they are quite easy to produce from any elements,» noted the co-founder of Vyriy Drone.
Co-founder of Vyriy Drone believes that localization should be appropriate in each individual case, because in the global world, everyone has long understood that focusing only on the domestic market is wrong.
«It is necessary to maintain a balance: what is expedient and critically important — localize in Ukraine. For other components — work in cooperation with manufacturers from partner countries. There is also the issue of raw materials, which are available only in certain countries — there is no getting away from this. Yes, this is a certain dependence, but such an approach is more effective in terms of saving time, effort, and resources. Localization is important, but making it the main guideline is not entirely correct. It is important to take into account one’s own capabilities, market offers, and risks,» stated the representative of Vyriy Drone.
Recall that the Vyriy Drone company announced a 10-inch FPV drone fully localized in Ukraine back in December 2024.
