Representatives of the miltech sector spoke about the level of salaries in their field in an interview with Economic Truth.
According to IT Research Ukraine 2024, the median salary of an IT specialist in Ukraine in 2024 was $2,590. At the same time, the level of pay in miltech, as in IT, depends on specialization: technical and non-technical roles have different market values.
Due to security concerns, it is difficult to comprehensively research salaries in miltech, as there is almost no public information. However, companies and recruitment agencies assure that most vacancies offer market remuneration comparable to the IT sector.
In general, hiring at miltech is increasingly reminiscent of the times of the active heyday of Ukrainian IT, when the shortage of personnel pushed companies to non-standard solutions, including cooperation with universities.
"We are already communicating with companies that in the near future there may simply be a shortage of specialists in some areas. Therefore, it is important to start cooperation with universities now. This will not bring quick results, but in the long term it will definitely have a positive impact," said Mariana Andrusiak, chief brand manager of the first recruiting agency that helps miltech companies find talented people, Everstar.
In 2025, the number of vacancies in the miltech sector is expected to continue to grow as the industry continues to actively develop in response to the challenges of war. According to Dana Kondrevich of the labor market research company YouScan, in addition to the already established large companies, the number of defense startups will also increase.
Among the most sought-after specialists will be hardware engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and analysts. At the same time, vacancies in the software field and for office staff will not lose their relevance.
