«Metro 2039 is the next iconic FPS from the acclaimed story-telling masters, 4A Games. Journey into the dark heart of post-apocalyptic Moscow in a brutal conflict for the very soul of Metro,» reads the game’s alleged description.
The new Metro game takes place in 2039, where survivors of a nuclear war struggle to survive in the tunnels of the radioactive Moscow metro. According to the plot, they are united by a new leader — a fanatical Spartan known as the Hunter. His regime (the Novoreich) rules through propaganda and fear, and subjugates the metro’s inhabitants to wage war against an enemy on the surface.
Meanwhile, in the desert outside the city, the hermit Stranger suffers from «cruel waking nightmares.» He is forced to embark on a grueling journey through the shattered ruins of Moscow and descend into the subway.
This synopsis confirms previous reports that the next Metro game will take place in a Russian setting and could return players to Moscow.

Recall that 4A Games has already published the official teaser for Metro 2039. This will be the fourth part of the Metro series, based on the novels of Russian writer Dmitry Glukhovsky. The game will be released on Thursday, April 16.
