A new trend — from trade to education. Ukrainian educational process management system eZVO also launched its own MCP server

The Ukrainian educational process management system eZVO has launched its own MCP server, which allows you to connect compatible AI assistants, including ChatGPT and Claude Code, to the university’s information system.
This was reported to dev.ua by eZVO.
«After connecting, the user can access the eZVO information available to him in natural language — without having to search for the desired section of the system or generate a separate report,» they note.
Thanks to this, students can make inquiries about their schedule, grades and GPA, academic debts, etc., and teachers can inquire about what lectures they are holding today, current groups and disciplines, open information, lists of students and their performance, etc.
In the current version, the eZVO MCP server provides 22 operations in read-only mode. At the same time, the set of available capabilities is automatically determined by the role and rights of a particular user.
For example, for users with special MCP analytics rights, aggregated queries are provided: comparing GPA between faculties, majors, courses, groups, or disciplines, analyzing academic debts, and generating ratings based on academic performance.
How it works
In the case of eZVO ChatGPT, Claude Code or other compatible AI client does not directly access the university database: instead, the AI accesses specific MCP tools.
The eZVO server checks the user, their role, permissions, and access rights to specific data and only then generates a response.
Thus, AI becomes an additional interface for working with university ERP functions, rather than receiving unlimited access to the information system.
Authorization is implemented via OAuth 2.1 Authorization Code Flow with PKCE S256. User rights and activity are checked against current eZVO data during MCP requests.
At the same time, the current version of the MCP server works exclusively in read mode, so it is impossible to set or change a grade, close a report card, edit a student or teacher profile, create or delete a record, or change university settings through MCP.
