Want to become a ground robot operator? Where to learn: a selection of important opportunities
During war, the availability of technology is not a luxury, but a necessity. Ground-based robotic complexes (GRCs) are increasingly performing evacuation and logistics on the battlefield: delivering equipment, transporting ammunition, evacuating the wounded. All this is without risk to soldiers, especially when conventional equipment is unsuitable. For example, as the soldiers of the Charter battalion showed, their GRC with a payload of 200–250 kg made it possible to avoid losses among personnel when delivering provisions to an area inaccessible to cars

This is a unique profession — promising, technological, vital. And the state understands this: the government adopted amendments to Resolution No. 1129 and opened the market for training NRC operators. Now certified training for NRC operators in private schools will be paid for by the state. But along with new initiatives, official NRC operator training centers are already operating, where you can start training today.
The main task of the NRC is to remove a person from the front line as much as possible, to minimize the risks to the lives of servicemen, which they successfully cope with. It is also a promising specialty in the modern army, which is constantly developing and allows our army to fight according to the rules of the 21st century.
dev.ua, together with Victory Robots, an initiative that helps the Security and Defense Forces build the infrastructure and environment for the effective use of IRCs on the frontline, investigated where you can get the qualification of an IRC operator. Training for IRC operators is constantly improving and becoming more accessible. If you are a military or civilian who wants to master the skills of modern warfare, in September 2025 you have enough educational opportunities to become an IRC operator.
The Ministry of Defense has launched a specialized training course on ground robotic complexes in the Army+ application. This course is available to military personnel and consists of video lessons and tests, after successful completion of which an electronic certificate is issued. The course studies types of ground complexes, the possibilities of their integration into the work of the unit, rules for maintenance of NRCs, etc. The course is quite complex: only 36% of students successfully complete it. However, it is informative and guarantees obtaining basic knowledge about NRCs.

Operators of unmanned ground robotic complexes are already being trained here. The training is carried out according to a clear program, after completion of which servicemen receive the appropriate military accounting specialty. You can apply at the place of service or by filling out an application on the website of the Victory Robots initiative from the Dignitas Foundation.
The NRC Operators School trains specialists to perform the most complex tasks. There are courses for active military personnel who, upon completion of their training, will acquire a new army specialty, as well as intensive introductory courses for civilians. Each of these programs includes theoretical and practical classes, work on simulators, and field training.
This is a recruiting and training center for specialists in unmanned systems of the Land Forces, which recruits for all positions in units of ground robotic complexes: NRC operators, engineers, signalers, system administrators and other specialists who organize and ensure the operation of ground drones. After selection, candidates undergo full support at the stage of joining the army: contract execution, basic combined-arms training in a separate training battalion, and then — professional training to obtain a military accounting specialty (VOS), the so-called «military diploma». Candidates receive support at each stage and are guaranteed to be assigned to the unit.
