"The senior we hired to replace the middle man changed the architecture. That's why there's no need for a third person." As a developer who previously received an offer lost his job a few days before joining a new company
Full-stack Developer Danylo Glushko told how he received an offer, which the employer withdrew with strange wording a few days before the release.
Full-stack Developer Danylo Glushko told how he received an offer, which the employer withdrew with strange wording a few days before the release.
«Imagine, I finally got the very offer I’ve been dreaming about for so long!» Well, I think life is getting better! We discussed everything, agreed that I would start on April 14, because I already had a trip to Odessa planned. They were like: «No problem, we’ll wait!»,» the developer said .
The man went on vacation. «I, happy as an elephant, quit my old job, packed my bags and went on vacation. Then on April 9, I received a message… I was speechless! I sat there, looking at the screen and thinking: ‘Is this even real?’» — Danylo said and published a screenshot of the message from a potential employer.
Now the developer is actively being searched, and under his post are dozens of comments from IT professionals.
«The senior with the cloud or cursor subscription rewrote the legacy that had been around since the 90s,» Senior DevOps Dmytro Slotvinsky jokingly writes.
«Now is the time when even after receiving an offer, there is no certainty that the work will be done,» says Senior Quality Assurance Engineer Kateryna Krolevetska.
Pavlo Vasylenko, Node.JS Developer, believes that this approach speaks of nothing more than the company’s inability to plan in the long term. «There would certainly be many more surprises,» he predicts.
« This is a mess. Of course, a company that does this hypothetically loses someone’s trust, but on its part it does not bear any responsibility or losses. Personally, I think the name should be published. Or let them compensate for the costs of finding a new place with the salary they promised. Somehow,» said Senior front-end developer Volodymyr Laptev.
«There was a similar case, but I was unemployed then anyway. I believe that you should sign a contract with a start date immediately after the offer. Because these are the times we live in… But I haven’t tried it yet, maybe that’s how it works,» writes sysadmin Ivan Bilous.
«If the team communicates only in Ukrainian, it doesn’t suit me.» The recruiter showed a correspondence with a candidate who raised the language issue from the start. There is a discussion under the post with 130+ comments
