Ive left Apple in 2019 to start his own design company, LoveFrom. Last year, he told The New York Times that he was working with Altman on an AI device startup. io Products has raised investment from Laurene Powell Jobs’ Emerson Collective and others, but the amount of funding was not disclosed, TechCrunch reported .
According to The Information, OpenAI could also partner with io Products instead of cleaning. The startup has a small team that includes former Apple designers Tan Tan and Evans Hankey.
io Products is working on various AI device concepts, including smart home gadgets. The startup says its goal is to create products that are “less socially disruptive than the iPhone.”
A week ago, OpenAI announced it had raised $40 billion in funding to boost AI research. Then, a few days later, it was revealed that the company had invested in Adaptive Security, a startup that helps businesses protect themselves from such cyberattacks.
