"It's a very closed and conservative environment." Ukrainian company N-iX talks about its desire to enter the Japanese market
Yuriy Kushla, VP of New Markets at Ukrainian IT company N-iX, which has offices in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, India, and Latin American countries, spoke about plans for the Japanese market.
Yuriy Kushla, VP of New Markets at Ukrainian IT company N-iX, which has offices in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, India, and Latin American countries, spoke about plans for the Japanese market.
«For the last two years, we really wanted to enter Japan. And we understood that working with this market from all our locations, even from India, is difficult. Therefore, we considered the possibility of building centers from closer locations. We even started to take the first steps, but put this project on pause. Now we are reviewing this strategy», — Kushla said in an interview with DOU.
According to him, the Japanese market is interesting to N-iX because of its money and the presence of a large, global business. But when the company contacted Japanese clients, its representatives were redirected to British or American subsidiaries.
«Japan is a very closed and conservative environment. You can’t do business there without being a global label. You can’t go there without having a Japanese company. All financial transactions and contracts don’t go beyond Japan. This means that you need to have representative offices there and some backups,» explained Yuriy Kushla.
He added that N-iX is considering all options, including a partnership mechanism or the acquisition of a small company, which «will provide a certain springboard and operational presence». Kushla clarified that it could be a Japanese-Filipino or Japanese-Vietnamese business, and «such conversations are ongoing».
VP New Markets N-iX noted that in 2025 the company plans to show 7% growth to keep up with last year’s performance.
«At the same time, if the war continues, we will have to continue the policy of diversifying the strategy. And then we should expect a decline in new business for Ukraine with all the consequences», — explained Yuriy Kushla.
N-iX previously stated that the company currently has no specific plans to open new foreign offices in 2025, but does not rule out such a possibility. «If conditions and requests arise that require new locations, we are ready to respond quickly and expand our presence in strategically important regions», — N-iX explained.
Recall that N-iX recently opened a development center in Bengaluru (India). «The Indian developer market is 50 times larger than the Ukrainian one. You can find engineers of almost any level there», — noted N-iX Operations Director Pavlo Deshchynsky.
«We are moving according to plan.» N-iX commented on the development of its Romanian office and answered whether to expect the opening of new foreign offices
UPD. «The developer market is 50 times larger than the Ukrainian one.» N-iX opened an office in India, where the first 4 specialists are already working. There were 600–1000 candidates for one vacancy
