"The grades don't indicate that there's anything wrong with your answers. They're just different from what we're looking for." PM shares the strangest feedback from an employer
Developer, PM, and startuper Igor Taratayko shared the «strangest rejection from a recruiter» after the first stage of selection for the Project Manager position.
Developer, PM, and startuper Igor Taratayko shared the «strangest rejection from a recruiter» after the first stage of selection for the Project Manager position.
«It’s time to show the strangest rejections from recruiters.» «First place: Project Manager vacancy (Gantt Guru) as a test task was a questionnaire on project management theory and a few questions on planning,» he noted .
Igor added to the post a lengthy response from the recruiter to his request to detail the reasons for the rejection.
The justification for the rejection states that the candidate’s answers are «simply different from what the company is looking for.» And the management will not explain in more detail, as it wants to «level the information leak so that subsequent candidates do not tailor their answers to the company’s preferences.»
In the comments to the post, IT users are mostly convinced that the real reasons for rejection are usually not told to anyone.
Yuriy Lashchuk, Senior Fullstack Developer, believes that the reasons for rejections can be different. «The main thing is that no one will tell you the real reason, except for the most trivial cases, when you frankly don’t have the skills or „swim“ or act stupid during the interview,» he says.
«What’s in the screenshot is nothing, just an attempt at a rational excuse, or maybe they really didn’t like the way you spoke or something else that they can’t or don’t want to explain to themselves,» says Yuriy.
Frontend Technical Lead Olna Maksynova says that this situation reminded her of an anecdote. «A daughter-in-law to her mother-in-law:
— Mom, did I cook the lean borscht correctly?
«No, not like that!»
Andriy Stafaniv, Regional Sales Manager in IT, noted: «Cross yourself and thank God that you didn’t end up in this company. As my life experience shows, where „values don’t match“ (regardless of hard skills), it’s something like a sect, with the chanting of corporate mantras, yoga on Wednesdays, and a „friendly team that works well and relaxes even better“… It’s better to immediately „on the shore“ disperse in different directions.»
«Before the interview, the candidate refused to turn on the camera and immediately sent a video generated using AI.» The candidate with an AI business card tried to convince the recruiter in English that he was a native Ukrainian. And there are many of them: how do recruiters filter this?
