«It’s time to admit that Rockodile Studio is no longer able to support the development of Death From Above: A Ukrainian Drone Warstory. As a publisher, we are looking for Ukrainian developers who are willing to pick up and continue the development of the game», — Lesser wrote on social media.
Death From Above: A Ukrainian Drone Warstory was released in February 2024. It is a small, single-player arcade game about drones, set against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The player acts as the operator of a Ukrainian military drone, fighting the occupiers, finding stolen equipment, and restoring damaged communication lines.
Death From Above features drone skins with the symbols of the Defense Forces units and a soundtrack by Ukrainian artists Antytila, Odarka Zyrko, Surface Tension, Go_A. The game has a «very favorable» (92% positive) rating on Steam based on 468 player reviews. 70% of the proceeds from sales go to the «Return Alive» fund and the «Army of Drones» project.
Hendrik Lesser clarified that the Rockodile studio has decided to focus on developing new projects, while Lesser Evil sees opportunities to release new content in Death From Above.
«The game is technically complete and is at version 1.0.5. However, we see huge potential for creating new content, individual missions, improving existing features, and developing additional ones. Unfortunately, we do not have the team to realize this potential, which is why we are making this announcement,» Lesser explained.
