The Khmelnytskyi City District Court approved a plea agreement in the case of the leading programmer of one of the Ukrainian IT companies, Exedept LLC. We tell the story in detail.
According to court documents, the defendant, a leading programmer at Exedept LLC, was fully aware of the restrictions on men of military age traveling abroad during martial law. No later than June 2025, he intended to obtain a forged official document that would formally grant him the right to cross the border.
To do this, he entered into a conspiracy with other individuals (materials regarding them are separated into separate proceedings) and transferred his personal data to produce a fictitious order for a business trip outside Ukraine. The document was created using printing devices and contained false information.
On June 22, 2025, the programmer attempted to cross the border at the «Mohyliv-Podilskyi — Otach» checkpoint, presenting this order to the border guards as a reason for leaving.
The court found that the defendant’s actions fell under the heading of forgery of an official document committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy and the use of a knowingly forged document.
On January 13, 2026, a plea agreement was reached between the prosecutor and the defendant. The programmer fully admitted his guilt, sincerely repented, and agreed to the proposed punishment.
The court approved the agreement and imposed: a fine of 51,000 UAH as the final punishment for the totality of the crimes. Separately, the court ordered the accused to transfer 100,000 UAH to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine within ten days from the date of approval of the agreement.
The court decided not to impose a preventive measure. The verdict can be appealed.
