The dev.ua editorial team, companies, users, and even government agencies received a new spam mailing supposedly from Nova Poshta: what is its danger
The day before, the dev.ua editorial team and many users received an email purporting to be from Nova Poshta, claiming to have a fake debt under a contract between the company receiving the letter and the postal operator. If the debt is not repaid, the email contained a threat to go to court to collect the "debt."
The day before, the editorial staff of dev.ua and many users received an email purporting to be from Nova Poshta, which claimed to be a fake debt under a contract between the company receiving the letter and the postal operator. In the event of non-payment of the debt, the letter contained a threat to go to court to collect the "debt."
The dev.ua editorial office was "charged" by fraudsters on behalf of the National Emergency Service with almost 65,000 UAH, but their financial demands, judging by the users' notes, were different.
Interestingly, the mailing addresses included government agencies. The attachment to the letter contained a file for download supposedly containing a copy of a “pre-trial claim” and an “updated account,” which, if opened, would put the user’s device at risk.
In turn, Nova Poshta responded to this incident, noting that the company's cybersecurity unit is working to block the network of servers from which such mailings are sent.
"Criminals exploit trust in well-known brands and manipulate sensitive information — in this case, they claim debt," Novaya Poshta noted .
