Russia is trying to introduce artificial intelligence into Shahed kamikaze drones, writes The Guardian with reference to Ukrainian military sources.
The Russians are trying to introduce artificial intelligence into drones in order to try to create "swarms of drones". With their help, the Shahed-type drone will coordinate with each other during the attack in such a way as to bypass Ukrainian air defenses.
However, it is not clear how effective this technology can be, the publication writes. It is reported, without specifying specific figures, that Russia manages to manufacture "hundreds" of drones per week.
Mobile fire groups are usually used against the Shaheds. Ukrainian specialists are also trying to develop cheap drones with a first-person view (FPV) costing up to $1,000, the media writes.
At the same time, development is complicated by the fact that the turbulent air flow created by Shahed during flight significantly affects piloting a smaller FPV drone, the publication noted.
We will remind that in general, from the beginning of this year until November 1, the enemy launched 6,987 attack UAVs on the territory of Ukraine. Recently, Russia has been making massive use of fake drones to overwhelm Ukrainian air defense during airstrikes. Varieties of such drones have components of foreign production.
