The IT Ukraine Association launched the "Vorozhyisoft" platform to remove Russian software solutions from circulation. How it works

«This project contributes not only to the reduction of Ukraine’s dependence on Russian software, but also to the development of Ukrainian IT solutions,» said Maria Shevchuk, executive director of the IT Ukraine Association.

According to her, work on the «Vorozhyisoft» project began as early as 2023. The team planned to create a tool that would help remove the software products of the aggressor country from circulation.

Maria Shevchuk also added that an expert group has been created for this purpose, which is actively working on the development of the draft law «On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine «On Sanctions» (Reg. No. 11492), which provides for the prohibition of enemy software. In addition, the association participates in the work of the Yermak-McFaul international sanctions group, which will limit Russians' access to software products critical to their economy.

The Vorozhyisoft website presents tools with which you can check the installed software for «Russian roots». In particular, among the verification tools:

• Stopdoneterussia — check your site for the use of Russian services (hosting, analytics, chats, etc.).
• BoycottRussiaBot — with which you can get information about the boycott of Russian companies and their supporters right in the chat.
• StopRU — install a browser extension to avoid recommendations of Russian videos on YouTube.
• UABlockList — constant monitoring of legislative decisions of authorities in the field of Internet regulation, forms a register of blocking of Internet resources and tells about the most interesting cases of restricting access to sites, the impact of sanctions on the availability of sites on the Internet.
• opendatabot.ua is a list of the software of the aggressor country, which is used in Ukraine, and together with Netpeak has formed a list of Ukrainian and global companies that can be used to safely replace enemy software.

In addition, the «Vorozhyisoft» website presents Ukrainian solutions that can already replace Russian software, in particular:

• Replace-ru-with-ua.com is a list of Ukrainian programs created by the Ministry of Digital Affairs and Netpeak that replace 54 Russian solutions.
• Proitukraine.org is a platform for finding analogues of IT solutions, receiving support and information about special conditions for Ukrainians.
• Svoe.it is an annual Ukrainian software showroom that presents domestic software for any task.
• Miisoft — the Miisoft team has selected hundreds of Ukrainian programs for business, grouped by dozens of categories, to help choose the right software.
