Sam Altman said OpenAI plans to "dramatically slow" its hiring pace
Sam Altman said that AI has affected the pace of staff expansion at the company. But the CEO of OpenAI also assured that this does not mean that they have "frozen" hiring, and it is not about completely replacing people with technology at this time.
Sam Altman said that AI has affected the pace of staff expansion at the company. But the CEO of OpenAI also assured that this does not mean that they have "frozen" hiring, and it is not about completely replacing people with technology at this time.
“We plan to dramatically slow the pace of our growth because we believe we can do much more with fewer people,” Altman said.
“I think what we shouldn’t do — and I hope other companies don’t do it either — is hire too aggressively, only to suddenly realize that AI can do a lot of the work, you need fewer people, and now you have to have really unpleasant conversations,” he added. “So I think the right approach for us is to hire more slowly, but continue to do that.”
Sam Altman previously stated that the jobs that AI will destroy are not “real jobs.” He also believes that AI could destroy entire categories of jobs, such as customer service.
