Average salaries in Ukraine have increased, but have decreased in the information and telecommunications sector. How much do Ukrainians earn now?

In September, the average salary in Ukraine rose to UAH 33,153, up 4% from a month earlier. But not all industries followed this trend. In the information and telecommunications sector, which remains the highest-paid, salaries, on the contrary, fell slightly.

This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.

In September, employees of the information and telecommunications sector were paid an average of UAH 77,924. In August, this figure was UAH 79,170. So, it decreased by approximately 1.6%, or UAH 1,246, per month. However, even after such a decrease, the industry confidently holds first place. Salaries in it are more than twice the average in the country.

However, the State Statistics Service takes into account accrued salaries of full-time employees before taxes. Therefore, these figures do not reflect all the income of IT specialists, including those who work as sole proprietors.

The top three highest-paying industries also included:

  • Financial and insurance activities — UAH 59,813.
  • Professional, scientific and technical activities — 43,594 UAH.

Further, salaries are closer to the national average. In the wholesale and retail trade sector, employees were paid UAH 38,433, in public administration and defense — UAH 37,705, and in industry — UAH 36,658.

In contrast, in the transport industry, including postal and courier services, the average salary was UAH 31,600. Even less was received in construction — UAH 28,532 and in real estate transactions — UAH 27,444.

The lowest indicators were in the following industries:

  • Education — 24,457 UAH.
  • Arts, sports, entertainment and recreation — 22,103 UAH.

  • Healthcare and social assistance — 21,848 UAH.

Thus, the difference between the highest and lowest paid industries reaches over UAH 56,000. Workers in the information and telecommunications sector are paid, on average, approximately 3.6 times more than those in healthcare and social assistance.

If we look at the regions, the highest earnings are in Kyiv — an average of 48,994 UAH. This is almost one and a half times more than the national average. Next are Lviv Oblast with 33,802 UAH and Kyiv Oblast with 33,585 UAH.

At the other end of the ranking is Kirovohrad Oblast, where the average salary is UAH 23,673. Slightly more is received in Chernihiv and Chernivtsi Oblasts — UAH 24,455 and UAH 24,567, respectively.

Overall, the average salary of Ukrainians increased by 24.5% over the year. However, the debt of enterprises to employees for salary payments as of October 1 reached UAH 3.9 billion.

Previously, dev.ua wrote that in July 2026, the average salary in the information and telecommunications sector increased to UAH 78,716, although overall in Ukraine it decreased by 1.6%.

It's twice as hard to find a job in IT after the age of 45. But those who succeed don't necessarily work for a lower salary.
