Ukrainian deeptech company Sine Engineering, which develops software for GPS-free drone navigation, has announced the launch of an R&D office in Finland. By the end of 2026, the company plans to form a team of 100 people there, about 80% of whom will be engineers.
The company’s CEO Andriy Chulyk spoke about the details of the expansion and the choice of location in an interview with the DOU publication.
According to the head of Sine Engineering, the Finnish office has actually been operating since the end of last year, but the company did not publish this information while it was adjusting internal processes. One of the main reasons for choosing Finland was the presence of a strong engineering school in the areas of radio technologies, microprocessor design, embedded and software, as well as a high concentration of specialized specialists.
"When we open a vacancy for an RF engineer in Ukraine, we can receive three or four resumes in a month. And in Finland we receive over 30 in three days — this cannot but please," said Andriy Chulyk.
He also emphasized the geopolitical context: Finland shares a border with Russia, and Finnish society understands well the challenges facing Ukraine and actively supports it.
Currently, the company’s specialists in Finland and Ukraine are working on new products, including mesh modems for military and civilian customers. In addition to offices in Ukraine, Finland and the USA, Sine Engineering is considering the possibility of entering at least two more countries by the end of the year.
Sine Engineering develops technologies for navigation and control of drone groups. The company provides technological support to over 200 manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Ukraine.
