Blogger took AI assistant to interview with AI recruiter. The recruiter fabricated his experience, understated his salary, and couldn't stop saying goodbye

American blogger Graham Dot Zip decided to come to an interview with an AI recruiter not alone, but with his own AI assistant. The assistant was supposed to talk about the candidate's experience and help negotiate a salary. But the bot invented non-existent career achievements for its client, agreed to a much lower salary, and in the end both AI assistants were stuck in an endless exchange of pleasantries.

The blogger posted a video of the interview on his channel.

Graham, a blogger, explained to Pet, an AI recruiter, that Victor, his AI assistant, knew his resume better than he did, so the AI assistant was supposed to represent him at the interview. Victor began to praise the candidate. According to him, Graham is an experienced manager who has been working as a senior marketing manager for three years, managing four employees and two contractors.

But none of that was true. Graham had to interrupt the interview and explain that he was actually a marketing coordinator, mostly working on calendars and not managing anyone yet. Then he asked Victor to speak to him alone.

"I really like what you're doing. You're putting me in a favorable light, but it seems like too favorable. You could embellish my experience by ten percent, but now you're just making up something that wasn't there," the blogger explained.

Victor agreed, so they continued the interview. When the recruiter asked about financial expectations, Victor assured Graham that money was not the main thing. He said that it was more important to find a good team, so $60,000 a year would be quite enough.

The blogger had to intervene again. He explained that he actually wanted $140,000–150,000. The recruiter was surprised by such a “jump” and began to insist on the company’s budget. Then Graham asked his AI representative to at least try to negotiate $120,000. And then he decided to give the bots some leeway.

"I'll step away for a minute, and you guys can sort this out. Victor, when I get back, negotiate at least 120 thousand," he asked and left the room.

But instead of negotiating a higher salary, Victor and Pat started making arrangements for the next interview on Thursday. And then they started saying goodbye.

  • "It was nice talking to you, Pete. Have a nice day!"
  • "And you, Victor. We'll talk soon."
  • "Talk to you soon, Pete. All the best!"
  • "And you, Victor. Goodbye!"
  • "Goodbye, Pete. Take care!"
  • "And you take care of yourself, Victor. See you Thursday!"

When Graham returned and asked about salary, Pat told him that he and Victor had agreed on a salary range of $85,000–95,000 and called it a great start. Eventually, the blogger announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy, to which Pat replied, “I’ll see you both on Thursday.”
